Particular days/events |
On the 18th a small wave depression moved W-E across the Midlands. Total precipitation from 0700-2140 in Epping was 23.8mm (63% monthly total). The maximum temperature was 11.8°C just after midnight (17th/18th). Temperatures tumbled from 8.8°C at 1900 to 1.2°C at 2120 as the cold front went through. The rain turned to wet snow but this did not settle here although areas to the north of us in N.Herts, N.Essex and S.Cambridgeshire had several centimetres of lying snow. Overnight (18th/19th), as skies cleared, a frost set in and the air temperature fell to -0.4°C. The depression continued eastwards across Europe producing heavy snow
and gales, particularly in Southern Poland
