.The deep depression to the southwest of the British
Isles is almost stationary while a trough and occlusion over the western
English Channel and West France is moving very slowly northeast. Occasional
rain will occur in the extreme Southwest coastal areas but elsewhere
very cold wintry conditions will continue. Snow will spread very slowly
to South Wales, South and Southeast England and the South Midlands.
There will be occasional snow in East Scotland and Northeast England,
but elsewhere only local slight snow will occur. There may be local
breaks in the cloud in the Southeast and in sheltered coastal districts
of the Northwest' At 0600 hours-The occluded front to the SW is edging
closer, now giving heavy rain over the Scilly Is. High pressure is centred
over NE Poland/Lithuania with low pressure off SW Ireland. An E to SE
airstream covers the British Isles with winds F3-6 in most areas but
F7-8 in SW England. Most places in Britain are cloudy but there is an
area of clear skies from the Netherlands to Denmark. The lowest temperatures
are in this area of clear skies with the lowest being 7°F (-13.9°C)
at Twenthe (E.Netherlands). Over the British Isles temperatures are
below freezing away from south-western districts and the Northern Isles.

place in the previous 24 hours is Scilly with 12mm. Otherwise little
precipitation although coastal areas of NE England and E Scotland have
had up to 5mm. Plymouth reports rain and snow, Aberdeen and Alness (nr
Inverness) light snow with recent snow at Waddington, St. Abb's Head
(Berwickshire) and Shetland. At 0600 both Waddington and Little Rissington
report 'drifting snow' Overnight minima-the lowest reported is 23°F
(-5.0°C) at Honiley, Little Rissington and Holyhead (Valley). Warmest
overnight is Scilly on 41°F (5.0°C). Maxima on previous day-below
freezing in most areas away from south-western areas of England and
Ireland and the Northern Isles. Lowest value is 26°F (-3.3°C)
at Honiley and Little Rissington and the highest is 44°F (6.7°C)
at Scilly. Snow cover and depth-snow cover widespread away from stations
in south-western areas of England and Ireland and coastal areas of W.Scotland.
