'Moderate snow with some heavy falls will occur in Northern England, North Midlands, Southern and Central Scotland and will spread later to northeast Scotland and parts of west Scotland. As the depression over northwest Ireland moves steadily east northeast the continuous snow will change to snow showers progressively over the whole of the northern area. Apart from some rain showers in the southwest it will be fair in the south although snow showers may spread later to east England. While daytime temperatures will rise several degrees above freezing point in many southern districts today and temperatures will be near to freezing in the north, there will be a hard to severe frost in many areas tonight especially in the southeast. Fog patches are likely in the Midlands and southeast late tonight chiefly near large towns. Winds will be strong to gale today in many areas associated with the circulation round the depression but will moderate generally tonight as it moves away'

Generally cloudy with light to moderate snow falling in large area from Midlands to southern Scotland and northern Ireland. Rain in the warm sector over Wales. Temperatures below freezing over Scotland, eastern and northern England. Well above freezing over Wales and south west England and just above freezing over Ireland. Lowest temperature 11°F (-11.7°C) at Wick and the highest 45°F (7.2°C) at Scilly. Snow cover widespread over eastern and northern England, eastern Scotland and and north-eastern Ireland. Greater than 6" in Midlands and northern England. Maximum reported depths are 12" at Finningley and 14" at Lerwick.
Over the near continent-High pressure over NW Germany. Lowest temperature 14°F (-10.0°C) over western Netherlands, Belgium and northern France.
Overnight- Lowest minimum 7°F (-13.9°C) at Dalwhinnie. Highest minimum 44°F (6.7°C) at Scilly. Some impressive precipitation totals overnight-24mm at Pembroke, 22mm at Aberporth (both snow turning to rain), 15mm at Hawarden, 14mm at Squires Gate (Blackpool) falling as snow.
